Overview: “Visioneers is not a band, it’s a studio project,” claims Marc Mac, better known as one half of 4 Hero, the UK electronic music duo. Visioneers music blends hip hop with jazz in the hopes of paying respect to hip hop producers like Jazzy Jeff, Jay Dee and Pete Rock. The project features Brad Somatik and 4 Hero drummer, Luke Parkhouse alongside guest vocals from San Fran emcee Capitol A and London rapper Voice. This album is far from cocktail-hour jazz, but it’s also not Heavy Rhyme Experience or Jazzamatazz either. Hip hop fans will enjoy the jazzy versions of Pharcyde’s “Runnin” and Nas’ “The World is Yours,” but may be slow to warm up to any of the other jazz-hop selections on the album.
