The Coalesence

Fusion or no fusion? In the case of New York Hip Hop crew, The Coalescence, the answer to that question is a hearty ”yes please”. This collective’s sound can be characterized in a general sense as reminiscent of the classic NY Hip Hop sound, providing their audience with smooth and soulful, yet hardhitting appeal. The group was formed through a series of meet and greets between beatsmiths Vega Benetton and Wally Suede and emcees Kil Ripkin and Torae. Having gained noteworthy recognition independent of one another along the mid-atlantic region before the group’s formation, it seems only natural for these four to have joined forces to produce a savvy underground hip hop superteam.

Taken together, the four members of “The Co.” have several indie releases and collaborations to their credit, including work with artists such as DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, DJ Clark Kent, and Khrysis among others. With a growing cult fan base as well, they are soon to become one of the best known acclaimed hip hop groups among new and old skool heads alike. The raw lyricism of Ripkin and Torae are a perfect compliment to the jazzy and soulful overtones Vega and Suede place over hard bassline beats. The Coalescence might sound like they want to save Hip Hop at first, but don’t be mistaken. The group possesses a genuine and zealous love for the art form, ensuring it and its listeners, ”ill beats and sick bars” for a lifetime; a promise that The Co. most definitely delivers on.
