Overview: First off, allow me to thank Jake for sending the complimentary “Missing Trooth” dental floss along with his debut album. You can really never have enough floss at your disposal. As for the album, this is a solid debut for the rising artist out of the greater Philly area. His lead single, “Headphones,” reached the #2 spot on the U.S. national college radio charts. While it’s a nice track, outlining the love/hate relationship we have with women, it’s not necessarily the best that the album has to offer. “Nasty N’ Nice,” which uses clever sampling from Guru and B.I.G. stands out, as does the Nas-influenced “Keep An Eye Out (Remix).” Jake uses the “I’m Jake Lefco” theme throughout the album, reminiscent of those old Tiger Woods ads, which keeps the album flowing from track to track. He has a solid flow, which incorporates a lot of humor and punchlines throughout. His lyrics are well-thought out, but the content is nothing new- rhyming about his childhood, the government, relationships, etc. Reef the Lost Cause adds solid verses to two songs, neither of which outshine Lefco. The beats on the album become fairly monotonous, primarily up-tempo fast-rap mixed with some jazz appeal. The album doesn’t really keep your full attention throughout its entire 14 tracks, but at the same time, your not begging to press eject either. All in all, solid but not spectacular. Like track #12 says, keep an eye out for Lefco.

Dopeness Percentage - Takes into account how many dope songs there are compared to tracks on the album. For example, if an album had 14 tracks and 5 of them were dope, you have a Dopeness of 36%.
