Overview: Develop[Mental]1 is a compilation mix CD from Bay Area indie label NatAural High. Mixed by DJ Icewater, the CD showcases the emcees, producers and affiliates that make up the label’s diverse roster. The most well known names on the album are Paul Wall who rhymes on “Play The Role (Statewide Remix),” and DJ Vinroc who produces the Lunar Heights songs “Shake” and “Da Music.” Other featured artists include Texas’ own Bavu Blakes and the impressive Spank Pops out of San Fran. It’s difficult to judge a compilation CD, but this one was a pleasant surprise, for admittedly not knowing much about the artists. Icewater mixes with great precision, making every cut feel like it truly belongs on the album. The flow of the mix remains upbeat and consistent making NatAural High a label to keep an eye on.
