Although its history and musical structures are rooted in African-American traditions, hip-hop's audience and members has crossed racial, regional and even global boundaries. Hip hop has helped foster an identity and unify voices of marginalized groups across the globe. Within this space it is our goal to introduce you to various hip hop scenes around the world by providing an overview of the respective country, a brief description detailing how the scene developed, a listing of influential artists, websites, and magazines and of course some musical selections.
